"Local heritage art", "Industrial flagship of the Haut-Var"... the Varages earthenware factory will continue its activity

The news broke this Tuesday afternoon. The Draguignan Commercial Court has accepted a collective's offer to buy the Varages pottery factory.
The latter is composed of SAS maison Jonquier, represented by its director Benoit Adet, SAS Numeis, SCNG Invest, ACI group respectively chaired by Michaël Bruel, Christain Meli, Philippe Rivière and the association Musée-ressource de la Tartugo whose president is Nicolas Plazanet.
"We have developed a project to save the earthenware factory, which has been in liquidation since last February. It represents an art form of our heritage and sets the tone for table settings in Provence," explains Nicolas Plazanet.
"Our goal is to maintain the know-how. In this regard, we are in contact with the former managers so that they can pass on their skills. Of course, the company must be sustainable; our acquisition project also includes a component on the development of the activity with the second factory. The idea is to restore it and relaunch a production activity of what we call "biscuit," that is to say, the plate without the earthenware."
Established since 1695, this business is an industrial jewel of the Haut Var.
330 years of history and a renaissance today at the initiative of this "collective of enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. This revival is a small miracle," says Nicolas Plazanet.
